Hearts of Oak’s Mohammed Hussein apologises for confronting referee after Kotoko defeat

Hearts of Oak midfielder Mohammed Hussein has issued a public apology for his conduct towards referee Reginald Collins Amoah after Sunday’s 1-0 loss to Asante Kotoko at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday.

In a statement shared on Facebook, Hussein admitted his behaviour at the end of the match was unacceptable and took full responsibility, expressing remorse to the Ghana Football Association (GFA), the referee, his teammates, and the club’s supporters.

"With a heavy heart, I sincerely apologise to the GFA, the referee, my teammates, our cherished supporters, and the wider football community. What happened after the final whistle was unacceptable, and I take full responsibility for my behaviour," he wrote.

He explained that frustration during the game led to his reaction, acknowledging that he allowed emotions to cloud his judgment. "Instead of showing restraint and respect, I reacted wrongly and I regret it deeply," he added.

Hussein pledged to learn from the incident and work harder to uphold the values of professionalism. “I am committed to making amends and proving, through my conduct going forward, that I have learned from this mistake,” he concluded.
