The Omanhen of the Oguaa Traditional Area, Dr Osabarimba Kwesi Atta II, has called for collective support for tourism development, saying the benefits of the sector must be shared by all. He made the statement on Wednesday, October 21, 2026, during the opening ceremony of the sixth edition of the Inter-Tourism Expo Accra (iNTTA) at the Ridge Royal Hotel in Cape Coast.
Dr Osabarimba Kwesi Atta II stressed that the success of tourism depended on the commitment and participation of all stakeholders, including traditional authorities, government, the private sector and local communities.
“If we want it to be successful, all of us will have to support, and the benefit will come to all of us,” he said. He also highlighted Africa’s historical significance and questioned why the continent continued to look to others for knowledge and recognition of its own heritage.
“Civilisation began in Africa. Why, then, are we sitting down for them to tell us what we already know?” he asked. The traditional ruler further extended a warm welcome to Africans in the diaspora who wish to return to the continent, urging them to join efforts to shape Africa’s future.
“To our brothers in the diaspora who want to come home, we welcome you all back home, and together we will build our own destiny,” he said.
