Ghana has reinforced its appeal as a top investment destination at the Commonwealth Enterprise and Investment Council (CWEIC) Business Forum in London, with the Minister for Trade, Agribusiness and Industry, Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare, showcasing the country’s drive toward industrialisation and economic resilience on Monday, April 20, 2026.
Addressing the forum under the theme “Africa’s Next Chapter: Building Resilient, Diversified Economies,” the minister highlighted Africa’s growing influence in the global economy, describing the continent as the fastest-growing investment frontier. She noted that Ghana is at the forefront of this transformation through deliberate policies aimed at shifting from raw material exports to value addition.
Ofosu-Adjare pointed to key initiatives such as plans to process at least 50 percent of Ghana’s cocoa locally and expand gold refining capacity to retain more value within the economy.
She also cited the strong performance of non-traditional exports, which hit a record US$5 billion in 2025, driven largely by processed and semi-processed goods.
She further highlighted improving macroeconomic indicators, including sustained economic growth, easing inflation, a stronger external position, and ongoing fiscal consolidation, as signs of a stable and recovering economy.
According to her, these developments are reinforcing investor confidence in Ghana’s economic direction.
The minister underscored Ghana’s strategic advantages, including its stable democratic environment, business-friendly legal framework, and its position as host of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) Secretariat, which provides access to a market of over 1.4 billion people.
Reaffirming government’s commitment to investors, she referenced reforms under the Ghana Investment Promotion Authority Bill aimed at enhancing incentives, strengthening investor protection, and improving the ease of doing business.
She concluded by inviting global investors to participate in the upcoming Ghana-UK Investment Summit and explore the vast opportunities available in Ghana and across Africa.
